With this, the 22nd of April was chosen to celebrate it. The first Earth Day is credited with launching the modern environmental movement and is now recognized as the planet’s largest civic event.
Today we are celebrating 50th Earth Day. People are made aware of environmental protection on the occasion of Earth Day, as well as people take a pledge to improve the environment. Life support systems are under threat due to frequent changes in climate. According to the Earth Day Organization, now is the time for all citizens of the world to come forward and work together to deal with the climate crisis because by not doing so, a dangerous future is being prepared for the present and future generations of people.

This year, most of the planet is under lockdown to control the spread of a global pandemic COVID-19. Nature has benefitted from the lockdown. During this period, pollution on the earth has come down due to stagnation of work in industries, ban on movement of vehicles, and halt construction work. For the last several years, efforts were being made to protect the environment. Most were just formal. When Coronavirus wreaked havoc, people were forced to be imprisoned in homes. All activities have come to a standstill. The whole world has suffered economic losses, but there is also a big benefit. Earth has got a new life. Not only the air but also the water has been cleared.
